While I executed poster designs for the 2016 Planet Forward Summit as a junior designer, the 2017 Summit was my first opportunity to design the branding for the entire event, beginning with printed advertisements.
These tabloid-size posters were immensely satisfying to design, as they shrugged off the solemnness of earlier designs and presented a number of editorial and typographic challenges.
The series illustrated a challenge at the heart of science communication — generating public interest in (often dry) scientific issues.
Hammed-up expressions characteristic of bad stock photos humorously exaggerate the goal: to find ways to tell stories about science and the environment that generate great interest and engagement.
Alternate posters, a little more tame.
